Week of December 14-18

It's always a great day...To Be A Coyote!

Celebrations:
  • Our Coins 4 Cops donations keep pouring in! RHS students showed up before school was out on Friday along with Scott Harrison, assistant principal, and could not believe how many coins and how much cash kept pouring in! They finally gave up and hauled it all over to Rogers to get more help to count it all! We will continue collecting through next Thursday. Thank you Carson staff and community for supporting the 9 children of the fallen Lakewood police officers.
  • What a chilly week we had, but your warm hearts made sure all of our Coyote kids were looked after before school and even during the day if they did not have good coats to wear for recess. Your kindness made a difference to so many kids last week! Thank you Erynn for also ensuring that we can get more coats for those that are still in need.

Staff Meeting Agenda: S/TAT Process, Clustering Potential, Flash Presentation on Levy, January PTA Fundraising Information

Staff Holiday Party: The final plan is that we will have a lively game of Bunco that involves being able to travel around the tables getting to know other staff members better. No need to worry about directions or driving, because this will be held in our very own cafeteria. There will be prizes, plus great food and nonalcoholic drinks served. This would start at 2:30. For those wanting to continue the great company and conversation, Karen has graciously offered her home for our holiday party. Karen lives by Emerald Ridge, so the commute would not be long. Again, great food and nonalcoholic drinks will be served. This would start at 4:30.

A.R. Testing Over Break: Miles and Arturo will be here to open up the building for students wishing to take A.R. tests over winter break. The two dates are both on Tuesday, Dec. 22nd and Dec. 29th. We will be open from 10:00 am -Noon. We've posted the info to our website but would be appreciated if you could add it to your SWIFT site. We will be testing upstairs in the ELL room.

Food over Break: Please be sure to take foods and other edible items home or place them in a sealed container. Food left out in the classrooms are beacons for rodents. As you can see from last year's photo, that we have gotten rodents in here-yes, that is Mr. Todd with the actual mouse that was caught in the kitchen. If you're in and working during the break, please take food items/left overs with you rather than tossing into a garbage can. The custodial staff will empty garbage cans once as they clean classrooms Friday.

Alarm System: Our custodial staff will be here during winter break. However, they will also be taking some days off. Please be sure to check in and out of the school using the front door so that everyone signs in. We don't want to accrue any unnecessary visits by district security or law enforcement. Last year we had some damage that occurred during the holidays. If you see something over break please do not hesitate to email or call Miles/Arturo. On this same note, please secure all student laptops, etc. into the locked cabinets and assure that projectors are turned off.

Filters: Consider giving your projector's filter a cleaning as part of the closing up for winter break. I know that at times we may hit the reset button with the intent of cleaning the filter later but then forget. Just like cars, they run smoother, quieter, and the bulb lasts longer with good maintenance. Also, that is a reminder to unplug computers and laptops. Be sure they are shut down properly as well!

Servers/Emails/Websites, Instant Messegers, etc.: Just an awareness that all of our electronic communications is automatically recorded onto the district server and is accessible to ITC. Please consider this when sending communication whether professional or on a lighter/social level. We wouldn't want things misinterpreted down the road. No, I haven't heard of any inappropriate use but I would just love to keep it that way:)

Have a very very jolly and fun-filled Christmas.

You have all worked hard and deserve the break!
