Week of October 1-5
Wednesday
LIC Day is a Principal Directed Day
Volunteer Orientation (run by Karen)
Thursday
Carson Dedication Ceremony
Rainy Weather: Well, it looks like the water is really finally here. Please be sure to have students bring their coats with them to the cafeteria. We aren't letting them back into classrooms after lunch. Also, it would be great if you could continue to emphasize in your classroom newsletters the importance of bringing rain gear to school.
Fire Drill: The google calendar shows that we have a fire drill this Tuesday. However, due to having our drills week one week later we will also move this drill to next week. Please connect with your PACK Rep to get feedback on how the first fire drill. Miles and I will be connecting with teachers to see if the routes were the best that they can be.
Weekly Meetings: Please let us know when your weekly meetings are being held. We would like to begin to join you. We have about 5 minutes worth of information to share, and of course we are always open to Q & A. We realisitically won't be able to make every one but it would be great to know what is going on!
Wednesday Cafeteria: PACK concerns included that it is too compact a time and the transition between the two lunches is just not working. Some students are having less than 5 minutes to eat lunch before the next grade level arrives. The request is to return to three lunch blocks; 10:30-11:00/grades 1-2, 11:00-11:30/grades 3-4, 11:30-12:00/grades 4-5. The difference is that when students are done the teacher will walk them back to class rather than waiting for the full thirty minutes to be up. We'll let you know by Tuesday if the Central Kitchen can make this change for this Wednesday. Please see PACK Rep for more details.
Carson Dedication Ceremony: This is one very big event! Please see your PACK Leadership rep for details. If you don't have a PACK Rep, please connect with another grade level or see Arturo. Below is the overview picture:
- If weather is great then part one of the event, 2:00-2:30 pm will held outside. This will include all students seated on the field. A seating chart will be sent out this week.
- If weather is a factor and students can't sit on the grass, then part one of the event will be held in the gym. One classroom will represent their grade level. Please let Karen know who will be representing your grade level by the end of the day on Monday.
- The second part of the presentation will take place in the commons. While students are being dismissed there will be a video presentation, a few words by the superintendent, and cake for guests.
- Once students are dismissed, tours of the building will begin. Please leave your classrooms open during this time. Know that Joe Public and others will be walking through your classrooms, the common areas, and the grounds for approx. one hour.
- Teachers: please coordinate so that there is at least one teacher per grade level available since we will have the building open and accessible. I realize that you may have other after school commitments. Please do not hesitate to attend to them because of this event.
- Don't forget to come down and get some cake and coffee (or punch)
- If you would like to invite a guest or guests to this event, please let Karen know ASAP so that we can make accommodations. This event is being coordinated by ESC.
Have an Outstanding Week!
