Don't forget that the change to daylight savings time is this Sunday, Nov. 4th !!! Fall back one hour so enjoy the extra hour on Sunday!

Car Wash: The 6th graders will be washing cars this Saturday (11/3) at Carson. There are pre-sale tickets still available, but they will also accept drive-ups. Funds raised will be used for camp and the 6th grade party at the end of the year.

Report Card Training: Crystal will be offering a training on the report card this Monday from 3:00-4:00 pm in her classroom, and then again on Tuesday from 7:45-8:15 am. This is intended to provide the support necessary so that teachers can successfully navigate the new report card format.

Bus Evacuation Drill: Please be sure to show students the video. Karen will begin calling classrooms starting at 8:45 am. It will take approx. 15 minutes per grade level. As always, the times are approximate and are determined by how our transitions with classes go. Please also keep in mind that any traffic issues may hold up the start time with the buses' arrival at school. Adjustments in the schedule will be communicated via intercom.

Tuesday Election Day: For those civic minded individuals, the polls close at 7:00 pm.

Teacher Appreciation Thanksgiving Luncheon: The PTA has graciously volunteered to provide the staff an appreciation luncheon this Wednesday. Come on down to the staff room after students are dismissed!

Volunteer Training: Karen will be running another orientation for volunteers. Please encourage those parents who have not yet attended to notify Karen that they will be attending. The session will not exceed 30 minutes.

Fire Drill: We had a bonus fire drill today (11/2) thanks to our contractors. We will let you know if we need to schedule an additional November drill or not through email.

Veteran's Day Assembly: There are sure to be many classroom activities centered around Veterans Day this Friday and into next week. As a school we will be gathering around the flagpole at 8:45 am to recognize this national holiday. Please keep in mind that this day will have more than just special significance for many of our military families. This 'gathering' will take approximately 15 minutes.

WATCH D.O.G.S. Program: Now that the program is up and running and we have worked out a plan for orientation, we have identified what appears to be the best process for Carson:

  • Teachers will recieve a one page reminder each Friday to send home with the student. the following week (unless the dad comes in on Monday-then the reminder goes home same day). The reminder should be sent home the day before the dad is to show.

  • Teachers will receive an email attachment with the schedule template. Some time blocks may give the dad a choice (i.e. volunteer in classroom or help assemble PE equipment). Please check with the dad in the morning to assure that you are planned accordingly. Such choices are available on an intermittent basis. Please also keep in mind that the dad may be split between grade levels.

  • Mark, Miles, or Arturo will give the dad an orientation after school has begun and then escort them to the classroom. Dependent upon the dad's familiarity with the school, the orientation may last up to 9:15 am.

Event of the week: Pumpkin Chucking!
