Safety Drill Week: This week is going to be emergency drill week. This Friday you will get a copy of the drill procedures to assure that we have the most current info. Please add them to your binder. On Monday we will be sending a flyer home letting parents know that we will be practicing our safety drills-please be sure to send these home with your students so we don't have parents freaking out when their child mentions that they participated in an emergency lockdown, etc.
Office/Nurse's Station Access: Please be sure that we are not 'helping' individuals during non school hours by giving them unsupervised access to the nurse's station and office area. If something needs to be accessed from those areas you will need to stay with them during that time and you are responsible for making sure that the areas are locked and secure when done. This last weekend we had individuals who used the nurse's area and did not leave it in an orderly or clean state. If it is a group that is renting our facility, then please refer them to the custodian that is on site. Along the same lines, if you let a student into another classroom because they forgot their homework etc., please stay with them until they leave the room and leave a note to the teacher as a courtesy. Thank you for your consideration.
Team Meetings : Thank you for your work in facilitating the team meetings. Arturo and Miles are both circulating through the grade levels and will try to be at one of yours at least every 2nd week. Right now we are dispensing the ELO application forms and will be checking in with you about your observation schedule and a copy of the newly updated evaluation criterion developed through the recent CBA. Please be sure to email Miles with your team minutes using the electronic form. It works best to start with a form that has no previous info so you don't run in to any formatting issues. If you need a blank one emailed to you, please let Miles know.
Parking Lot Dismissal Procedures: Help us to help the parents to help us make the dismissal process a smoother and more efficient experience by doing one thing...parking in the staff parking lot. It hurts a bit to say this knowing that Miles and I are most likely the biggest culprits of parking in the front parking lot rather than using the staff lot. If you are a staff member that needs to leave between 2:00-3:00 pm please park facing Gem Heights Drive. This allows parents who are parking to exit easily
by using the left lane and not interrupting the flow of cars picking up children in front of the school. If you're here during that time then please use the 'staff parking lot'.

Our kids are truly learning to speak the language and put a stop to bullying and harassing behavior. This week's topic is: The 3 Rs--Respect yourself, Respect others, Respect your school
A good idea would be to discuss what each of these looks like @ Carson and in different places around the school such as lining up outside, hallway behavior, and the lunchroom. I would also like to schedule our first committee meeting and will be emailing a date and time out soon if you signed up. Go Coyotes!
