September 21-25, 2009

Hard to believe, but next week brings the end of summer and fall will step right in. The good news? We are still all full of energy and ready to rock the socks off of our Carson kids this year! Let's talk some good news right now!
  1. I proudly stopped by WalMart this week and picked up a check for $1200 to use for supporting our school's AR program, books, and incentives! Thank you Lindsay Carlson for your ongoing zeal and enthusiasm that helped melt the heart of our local WalMart manager and land us another big check! Lindsay and I wrote up a grant application last year as well and were excited to see them continue supporting us. Last year's check was for $1750! Let's keep up the momentum!
  2. Thank you all of you for getting those behavior expectations meetings scheduled and thank you Erling for seeing most of those through! It was exciting to see how many of our Coyotes already knew the rules and procedures. Hats off to you for your great prep work with your students!
  3. I was informed this week that we will have our full funding of I-728 dollars equitable to last year's amount. This is great news to support our Pro Dev efforts for implementing our RTI framework at Carson. ELO's will be back as well! (No, not Electric Light Orchestra, although they were a great group in the 70's!)
  4. Most of you have already completed the 8 online quizzes for Safety this year! If you are not yet able to celebrate completing them, be sure to allow yourself some time during your work days to get them done by September 30th!
  5. We had an amazing turnout of folks at our Pizza Night to kick off Watch DOGS for this year. I will be updating our calendar once we process all the new sign-ups we got tonight. Way to go Carson families supporting our school!
  6. Special recognition to our paras who have been out there taming the wilderness of our streets and parking lots while we have worked to speed up drop off and pick up times AND keep our kids safer than ever! Thank you for putting yourselves out there for the safety of our students!

Getting Googlie for Google
I got a call from Google this week. They are willing to sponsor our school for free and update our Calendar and Document services! This will mean easier use of both of these features so we can simplify forms and scheduling! So, if you are not set up on iGoogle yet, hold on just a bit longer and we will get it updated for you all at once! For now, you can simply click on the links to the right of this blog to view the various calendars in detail. Happy Googling! Sorry, Bing, but Google has beat you to the punches at Carson!
Please Join PTA
If you haven't done so yet, I strongly encourage you to join our PTA! They are a phenomenal group and do amazing things for us, including providing classroom teachers $100 to use for supplies, field trips, and other school related expenses! So, show your support today! Individual membership is just $10!!!!
