Olweus Topic of the Week: Keeping the bar high for the 3 Rs--Respecting Yourself, Respecting Others, and Respecting Your School! Recently we have had a rash of issues related to students not following basic school guidelines such as the posted rules for bathroom use, following appropriate lunch procedures, excessive noise in the lunchroom and hallways, poor job lining up appropriately before school and at the end of recess, and other basic guidelines we all know too well. Please take some time to review these expectations, why they are important, and how they will make a difference in keeping the 3 Rs as an area of pride for our kids and community. Also, please let the students know how their behaviors reflect on the perception of their class and reinforce how you will encourage them to do their best in helping your class Succeed Every Day at being Respectful!
Student Lunch Cards: A reminder that any students who do not have their lunch cards with them will be referred back to the teacher to get their cards. We are doing another reinforcement of this practice because we have had a resurgence of kids not being able to receive the lunch they ordered because other students do not stick with their original lunch selection. This is our district-wide system and being as large a school as Carson, we certainly need to help our food service workers be able to serve food expeditiously and equitably for the items kids have signed up for. Please be sure to remind students that no exception will be made for not having their cards. This has become a significant enough problem that we need to step up our consideration in honoring the district-wide system and those kids who deserve what they pay for/order. If we do not have enough official cards in the office at this time, home-made ones out of construction paper will more than suffice until more come in. Please think about a management system to collect the cards for reuse as part of being an environmentally conscious school. On a good note: Adele greatly appreciates the kids being in the correct alphabetical order. There have been many recent improvements in that area. Primary Author Visit: Please check in with Amber regarding the schedule for the Author visit as if specialist times are adjusted.
Dan Vesey Art Show: Every year student artwork can be entered in the Dan Vesey Art Show and for the Washington Arts in Education Month. Each teacher may select one piece to submit for consideration. Select according to the 3 C's: concept, creativity, and craftsmanship. Pieces not selected to be hung for the Dan Vesey Art Show will be hung at various district offices for the month of May. Please consider turning in one of your students creative artwork pieces to me before April 7th so that Carson will be represented at the Art Show. Questions? See Jo Ann Noel.
PACK Leadership: Be sure to check the whiteboard outside the conference room for agenda items. So far we have: 1) New format and process for creating next year's classrooms, 2) protocol for long term sub requests, and 3) Requests for points for Non-A.R. books and revisiting our current process (refer to email Arturo will send out by Monday).
Report Cards: Thank you to everyone for getting all the report cards in and printed on time! Although the district made some improvements from last trimester, every time that there is a change it also means some adjustments. If there's something not quite right with your report cards please be sure to connect with Karen first thing in the AM rather than letting anything go due to TAC being closed.

St. Patty's Day: This year it falls on a Wednesday. What say we focus on being green on this day. Want to really stretch yourself... how about green college day! Either one or both-whatever works for you!
