Week of May 24-28, 2010
Teachers are all smiles once
they get to turn in their student MSP booklets
at the Patti Wagon!
Can I have some chocolate now?

Our quick thinking 4th and 5th grades
maneuvered to another escape route
during our final fire drill.
Who would've thought a Storm Trooper would be blocking the exit?

OLWEUS Topic of the Week: Talk with your class about how we all come from different backgrounds and how we all have unique experiences, family traditions and sometimes even celebrations. Focus on celebrating and valuing both our uniqueness as well as our shared commonalities- a great segue onto encouraging excitement for our Diversity Day!
MSP Perfect Attendance: This is for all of those students who were at school and on time for MSP testing. Please coordinate with your grade level and determine how many teachers need to stay behind to supervise those students not participating. If you do not have a planning time during this recess then your help with supervision is requested outside.
MSP: We're all done with the scheduled assessment. A huge thank you so much to Patti for again doing such a phenomenal job this year with the MSP. She had the additional challenge of being a classroom teacher and administering this year. Everyone came together to make it as good as it could be for the kids--it is so appreciated. Although everyone was doing their part, I must give the title of fastest responder to our Jennifer Torgerson; she was everywhere all at once!
Room Assignments Review: Those interested in providing feedback and ideas about next year's staff room assignments are invited to the conference room. Please note that this is not a personal request/pick your room session. We have people shifting grades and adjustments in projected number of sections-naturally this means some moves. However, it would be great to get some staff input from an instructional/teaming perspective because ultimately we want the best but we are realistically physically limited in some ways.
Diversity Day: Please take a look at the email that went out on Friday late afternoon. It has the outline and the details about our Diversity Day. We will be finalizing this during our staff meeting on Wednesday. However, if you already see some challenges please let Arturo know so that we can have some time to correct them. Thanks.
Spirit Day: This month our Spirit Day falls on Diversity Day. Although we will not be able to have the spirit assembly our them is Dress Your Culture or Dress Your Best. Please share this with your students.
PACK Leadership: Don't forget to check out the minutes on the PACK Leadership BLOG from the meeting this last Friday. The link is on the left hand column of this blog.
