Building Rep for District Technology Committee: There is a call out for a building technology rep to serve on the District Technology Committee. The committee meets approximately 4 times per year and is clustered so that meetings are scheduled by level (elementary, secondary). Short notice (we heard about it this week) but please let Arturo know by Monday if you are interested.
QUEST Testing: Teacher input is very valuable to the members of the Central Screening Committee. Over the next few weeks, you may receive a blank form for one of your students. I strongly urge you to compete the form and get it in the courier no later than Feb. 16th.
Janis Heigl: Thank you all for the positive feedback regarding our visit by Janis. We want to share that she was greatly impressed with the commitment and evidence of how much effort is going into implementing the program at Carson. Kudos to all of you for your hard work and effort. There were three big ideas that I want to be sure we continue to support as a building: 1) Fidelity to the Bridges Program during the designated math block, When changing/adjusting instruction based on student feedback and performance we use Bridges Materials (Janis would say to stick with the diet plan), and work towards incorporating manipulatives with each lesson.
PACK Leadership Agenda: So far we have Olweus Training, Copier Procedures and budget, Janis Heigl follow up, Pennies for Patients Fundraiser, Honoring Cultures Campaign, Work addressing the achievement gap. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
WELPA: Jennifer begins her assessment of ELL students this week. Please refer to her email sent out Friday, 2/3, titled ELL Testing for the details of our testing procedures at Carson. I big reminder that the short cut through the ramp along the stage is off limits during testing times.
Report Grades for Math on Report Card: John Parker sent out an email Friday, 2/3, on requirements for what should be reported on the report card this second trimester. Please review the information and if there is a question, concern, etc. please let our Math reps (Michelle and Melissa) as well as Andrea and Arturo know so that it can be addressed right away.
Valentine Candy Grams: Orders will be taken through Friday. Cost is $1. This is a 6th grade fundraiser for the end of year 6th grade events. Questions? Connect with a 6th grade teacher.
