The other item that I would like for you to do is collect student work. In 5th grade, Crystal had the idea of gathering work from all of the units that we have done so far (about 2-3 samples per classroom). That is not a must, you can focus on your current unit and just collect samples of worksheets, journal entries, etc that show what your students are doing in math.
Grade-level Team Meetings: In addition to Nuts and Bolts, the one of purposes of the grade level team meeting is to focus and address the issue of student achievement and closing the achievement gap for all students. Team meeting times need to be focused on student data. Therefore we will be asking grade-level teams to address student progress by looking at data. We will begin to share this information at staff and PACK meetings. Thanks for making student achievement a focus in your team meetings and being proactive in planning for the continued success of your students.
Professional Development: An email was sent out Friday, Feb. 24th with a listing of professional development opportunities in culture and the arts. The first option, Native American Symposium, is what we are participating in as a staff. This time is being traded for our April PR day. Please be sure to register on the District pro dev website. Although not a requirement, classified staff is also welcome to participate. An additional hard copy of pro dev listings by grade level will be in staff boxes as well.
