Thank you everyone for your support of last week's fast paced and packed schedule: from pictures to assemblies. This week promises to be a little more routine (at least on paper).

Report Cards: Well, the report cards are sent out and now we can look forward to the third trimester. Some obvious key points to keep in mind regarding report cards and other items associated with the final trimester:
  • Understandably so, there are some sections of the report card that have not yet received a score. All the sections of the report card should be covered by the end of the third trimester
  • As third trimesterAR goals for individual students are set, you may want to consider also stating the A.R. accuracy goal for students (85% is default percentage unless they are on a modified goal plan)
  • Potential retentions require a referral to the S/TAT team before any conversation occurs with parents. If parents are initiating possible retention we also need to run the request through S/TAT
  • Carson will not be offering request forms for parents to make next grade level classroom/teacher requests. However, if there are parent inquiries about this, please refer them to the office whenever they make the inquiry--no need to wait until May
Carson Bike Squad: Mark, Miles, and Arturo (along with anyone else who would like to join us) will be determining a day soon where we will ride bicycles around Silver Creek delivering some surprise recognition via a certificate and handshake. This will be a once a month trip to acknowledge 5-7 students at a time. It's a Publishers Clearing House approach minus the van and money. The goal is to add another layer of positive recognition to our students while supporting our desire to be seen as a green school. If you have a student you would like recognized, please chat with Mark. More information to come your way soon.
Mile Club: We have the cards that will be kept outside. They are filed by teacher. This activity is for K-6. However, only students in grades 4-6 will be recognized as part of the Super Achiever Program.
Rainy Weather and Recess: We are having parent calls and emails coming into the office due to the change in weather. Some parents have been upset that students are not permitted to return to their classrooms to get their coats, jackets, etc. once they go outside. We need to stick with this for consistency otherwise we will have more kids in the hall than outside. However, if you could please remind and require students to take their coats outside when it is rainy or unpredicable. This eliminates at least half of the frustration as to why the kids are wet. Thanks in advance.
No Parking on 184th St. E: Please note that no parking signs have been posted by the county on 182nd St. E. Every once in awhile we'll get a staff member parking out there. The county sheriff has notified us that they will begin issuing tickets now that the signs are up. So if you have been a rebel in this area you may want to begin parking in our staff lot or the regular lot
Music Assembly: The assembly is scheduled for this Friday at the end of the day, 2:05 pm. Students finishing up recess will go directly into the gym. Please have backpacks, coats, etc. ready in the classrooms.
