Donuts with Dad: The gym is all set up. Please anticipate parking challenges as well as some students arriving late to class because of this event.
Field Day: Lynn Massey has published the information regarding Field Day. We know it will run so nice and smooth! We will be outside whether it is rain or shine. Please check in with your specialist (if you have a specialist today) so that you are covered for your prep time if you would like that time built into your schedule today. As you know, the plan is to have staff out even if they are not covering a specific station. One of the challenges at Field Day can result in not the best of student behavior choices with parents or other staff. If this is occuring please notify the classroom teacher and/or Miles and Arturo.
Intermediate Teachers: Please arrange with your grade level teams a rotation if you will need the 30 minutes of non student contact time that you usually get in the afternoon during recess. Due to primary having their field day in the afternoon, intermediate recess will not be available for students.
Last CNN: We will have a CNN broadcast on Tuesday morning to recognize some students as well as show pictures of the year. If you are interested, please tune in at 9:00 AM. We anticipate that it will be pretty busy in the morning to get rolling right away. We are not anticipating an school assembly.
Check Out Form: Please be sure that you have a check out form from Karen. If you will be keeping your computer in your classroom over the summer, please let us know at checkout the location. It must be in a locked cabinet and the battery must be removed. If you will not be returning, then the computer needs to be checked in by Wednesday or delivered to ITC if you bring it in after Wednesday. The check out will not be complete until the computer is turned in. If not returning, please be sure that the 2.0 gb SD chip is turned in to Karen (Not ITC-this belongs to the building).
Furniture Arrangement: When checking out, all of the furniture will need to b
e off the carpet. This means that not all the classroom furniture will fit on the tile and project room so some must go outside in the hallway. Please do not remove furniture from the room until Tuesday. Also, be sure to mark it clearly as to who's room it belongs in. The two items that may remain on the carpet are the bookshelf (covered) and the filing cabinet. The filing cabinet and shelf must be emptied before they are moved (please don't take a shortcut with this. They are not heavy duty enough to handle the stress). The floor will simply be deep cleaned around them if you leave them put. Miles and I will be checking out people from their rooms. We are open to checking out through Wednesday of this week. If more time is needed, please let us know beforehand. Please do not leave your cabinet or bookshelf against the longer project room wall. We hope that the work that is being done this summer will include more tackable surface being installed.
Bulletin Boards/Items on Walls: You may leave items up on your walls and hallway bulletin boards. However, if you see damage to the wall, you will need to take things down so that contractors will have access to the area. Putting something up and indicating that there is something behind it that needs to be addressed will simply be bypassed by contractors.
Summer Cleaning Prep: A cleaning schedule will be posted in the office. This will be available for your reference only. Please do not try to negotiate changes with the custodial staff. The counters should be cleared so blinds and windows can be cleaned, tables and chairs should be wiped off and cleared (no shaving cream), posters in front of cabinets should be taken off, posters and bulletin boards on walls can remain, if you would like the cabinets moved, you must let the custodian know and remove items from inside. Each teacher should have a spray bottle; if not, please see Ann or Carol.
Saxton Bradley: Timing is everything! The company may be in this week sometime, otherwise it will be next week, to replace the remaining classroom furniture that came damaged or the wrong size. If there is such furniture still in your room, please let the office know as part of your check-out.
Summer Construction Work: This summer, the additional portable and track will be installed as well as quite a bit of work inside the building. This includes hallways, gym, and classrooms. Please be sure that all technology and items of value are locked up if you are working during the summer. All of this work is being done by non-school employees.
Need Summer Reading?: I realize that you may already be wondering what yo
u will be doing with yourself this summer. Well, I have been approached by two staff members regarding a book study for the summer and/or into next year; each teacher came on their own. The book is called Yardsticks: Children in the Classroom Ages 4-14. It has been around for awhile, we'll order the 3rd edition, so many may have read it or at least heard about it. It is a very easy read. If you are interested in joining us, please let Miles or Arturo know by Tuesday so that we can order a book for you.

Staff End of Year Get Together: Everyone, certificated and classified, is encouraged to participate. We have a number of people who will not be returning this coming year, both paras and teachers, so it will be a great way to honor them. Please also take this event into consideration as part of the check-out process. Carson Coyotes...Succeed Every Day, even at the end of the school year!
Being the last two days of school without any past history, it is likely that a lot of information may be coming your way fast. Hold on and stay tuned!
