Reminder that Fair Day is a bit different than other Wednesdays. We do not serve lunches and students are dismissed at 1130 am. Please share this on your SWIFT sites and get the message out to our families.
Special Programs Services and Assessments
Resource, LAP, and ELL are in the process of assessing new students to the building/district. Assessments have been occuring already this week with Resource students. ELL will begin assessing tomorrow, Friday. Students are pulled individually and it will take 30-45 minutes dependent upon the student's skill level. Starting date services for these programs will vary in that services will begin when assessments are completed.
No Bullying Contracts
The contracts will be put in your boxes to be sent home next week. Please be sure that they are part of the weekly classroom meeting conversation and not simply sent home. We are looking for 100% return! By now you should have reviewed the School Rules Against Bullying poster with your class. Please review these at each class meeting! The goal is for all students to know these rules.
Lunch Helpers
Adele, our lead server, is looking for two intermediate students each lunch period who are interested in helping to serve lunches (pizza . The bonus is that they do get a free lunch and count that time towards the Super Achiever Program. Below are the guidelines using a fifth grade student as an example.
The student would start serving lunches at 11:30 (when the 5th grades go to lunch)
The student would serve for approx. 15-20 minutes.
When done serving they would then eat their lunch and go to recess
Students would understand that they are commiting to a week minimum. Teachers would determine which students are participating (based on academic effort, citizenship, and attendance). Please let Adele know if/when you will begin sending students to help.
Fire Inspection
Carson was inspected this week. We passed everything except one area. The Fire Marshall has informed us that we are not permitted to store any materials 'on top of' the cupboards. We a written warning and will be getting a surprise inspection within the next 30 days. Please take all of these items down, including 'plants and decorations'. Regarding the plants and decorations, we will get clarification at the next inspection as to whether or not they can be exceptions (hopefully it will be a inspector with a sense of decorating style). We got off easy with a warning. Please take care of this by Monday morning. If you have questions, please see Miles or Arturo.
Forza Friday
Join us for coffee at Forza's by the Super Walmart on the hill. Our new meeting days may require us to change the day to FORZA Mondays if there is a conflict.

Thank you!
What a fantastic start! Your hard work and consideration have made this year's kick-off our best ever! (I know this is only year 2, but it was amazing!) Please take some time to relax and reflect on a job well done. Next week will be exciting as we embark on the meat of the school year, and we will inform you of any adjustments to staff and students as soon as we have further information. Have a relaxing weekend!
