Coyote News Network
Three New Links: Please note that we have added three new web links to the right of this blog for your quick and easy reference and access. Miles has emailed the actual websites if you wish to get those (you can also simply copy them once you're linked. They include:
DIBELS website: this is the website that Vince gave out at our Reading Assessment Training on Wednesday.
Grade Level Team Minutes: This is the form we are using to record our Tuesday grade level meetings. More user friendly...enjoy :)
S/TAT Referral Form: This is form that is completed and forwarded on to Mark prior to the scheduled meeting
Coyote News Network moves to Fridays: TV shows tend to move to Fridays when they're getting close to being cut. It's ok, this is not the case with CNN. We are moving to Fridays simply due to the number of conflicts with morning meetings/commitments for both admin, counselor, etc.
PTA Committees Meeting: Please note that the PTA is having a meeting every other Monday at 1:30 pm. It's open to everyone. I put it on the calendar as a reminder for our staff to please encourage other parents to attend-especially if they have ideas on something new, improvements, etc. They don't have to commit to anything, but it is always welcome for our board to have more parent participation. The location usually varies dependent upon who shows up. The meeting goes from 30 minutes to an hour dependent upon who's there and what the talk is all about.
Copying: I realize that the copying was more informational than conversational at our staff meeting. However, I am going to be looking toward conversation and decision making for how we can get better use/awareness of our building material resources-so please keep the conversation going. Some additional info that I didn't get to: the copying numbers do not include printshop orders, the use of the printers in the building as copiers are so much more expensive than using copiers (these are intended to be used for single copies). Currently, our biggest help with decreasing copying may be simply an awareness of how much we are copying. I have had all the codes reset to zero and have placed a 15,000 copy limit for the remainder of the year (this is simply a reset number rather than a limit/goal number-but it's also reasonable to anticipate staying under this amount).
Olweus:
What things do you think parents could/should do to help stop bullying?
College/University Banners: a sign up has already gotten started in the staff room for college and university banners for us to post in the commons. Please let those job alike individuals who did not make it to the staff meeting know what it is all about. We will look at pricing at the end of this week 1/16).
Student Teachers/Practicuum: We are in a transition time as we get applications for winter and spring student teachers and practicuum students. If you are interested in having a student teacher/practicum student please let Miles or Arturo know. Here are three FYI's that we hope everyone is aware of so that we don't get ourselves into awkward situations: 1) student teaching assignments are all handled through ESC and buildings are contacted by our Student Learning Department-colleges/students should not be contacting staff directly; 2) practicum assignments start at the school office level (there is specific criteria to meet) rather than teachers making arrangments/commitments directly; 3) the district also has specific criteria for staff who are interested in contributing to our future teachers.
Martin Luther King Assembly: Our MLK assembly has been changed to Friday, Jan. 23nd. This is due to our PTA Mad Science night on Wednesday, Jan. 21st which also includes a morning assembly for primary (8:45am) and intermediate (9:30am). Please make this adjustment to your calendars. Thanks.
