Staff Group Pictures: All certificated and classified staff members please be sure to join us before the start of the school day for the staff school picture. We had a lot of people last year who didn't make it-some forgot and others didn't know. Please remind your team members. It's not a big deal the day of, but it is neat when people look back years later (we archive a copy each year)-it would be great for them to see your smiling face looking back at them!

Hunker Down Week: Starting Thursday there was a lot of yelling, screaming and snacking in front of the TV due to college playoffs; it was louder than a fraternity. I finally had to tell my wife to tone it down before the neighbors complained. However, I think it is a good sign that the energy is picking up: Spring officially started and we're getting into the third trimester. We're hoping for 100% participation from our staff during hunker down week-we can't think of a better way to welcome spring break. Contribute to the fun! Join us! Also, be sure to let the students know they can join in the fun on Friday's theme!

Librarian Visit: Next Monday we will have the librarian here from the South Hill library to talk with the students about the data bases that they have available and how to access them. I am not sure how long she will be talking with the students but we may not have time to check out books. They will be able to come down during open library if they need books, I hope you don't mind playing this by ear.

Lots of Talking Going On: There has been a lot of conversation and predictions going on about what the district is doing or going to do in regards to funding for this coming year. Beginning Monday, we will be getting announcements of decisions being made, with details (how these decisions affect individuals) most likely following. With the district facing a minimum deficit of $15 million, we will all be impacted somehow by the difficult decisions that will need to be made be our school board; let's work hard to support each other these next few months at all levels.

Olweus Topic of the Week: Hopefully there were some great conversations generated by last week's topic. I know that we received a few referral's based on what was said in the classrooms and it is exciting to see more kids choosing to help us keep the bar for respect at a high level for Carson. Let's keep that energy going. This week's conversation is:  THE 3 R's for Carson--Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect Your School. What are some things you can be doing to help Carson be a 3 R school? What can we do if we notice someone choosing to not follow the 3 Rs? What will our school be like if everyone follows the 3 Rs philosophy?
