Student Principals for the Day

Leave Requests: Please take some time to read the all-district email that was sent out on April 1st regarding leave usage; especially for personal leave. You will note that there are two levels of approval for such requests (principal, district) and different 'rules' dependent upon the bargaining unit. The most important part of the message is the request to get approval before making travel arrangements.

WASL: Please help us to get into the mode as a whole school for WASL. WASL grades please stress the breakfast, getting to sleep early at least a couple days before (not just the night before), mental mindset, etc. Non-WASL grades can support by talking about what they can do to encourage older siblings getting to sleep early, etc. Please also consider including information to parents on your school newsletters/SWIFT sites-taking the opportunity to also stress not pulling students during WASL testing. Remember...every little thing contributes to making a big difference.

WASL Proctor Training: If you have follow up questions or feel that you need more training, please see Patti Nance. We want to be sure that we are as prepared as we can be.

Bingo Basket Principals for the Day: Principal Cameron and Assistant Principal Caitlin will be in charge of the school this Friday. If you get a chance please take a moment to congratulate them on running the school for the day (just don't get too comfortable with them, Miles and I aren't giving up our positions that easily!)

Olweus Topic of the Week:
Spring is here and along with it comes an increase in rambunctious behavior as well as a lot of budding relationships among the older kids. Also, we tend to get an increase in new student enrollments right around the spring break period. This week--What are some of the challenges that can be avoided or minimized at recess? How can we be sure that all kids feel welcome on the playground? What do you do if you see kids playing too rough or not following other safety rules outside?
