Carson students did an outstanding job honoring School Board members at last Monday's School Board meeting. Way to go, kids!
Celebrations:
- Be sure to check out the latest School Board update for more info on our students as they honored School Board members publicly last week. Special thanks to Danielle for her support in helping put together this wonderful acknowledgement! It was very well received and Arturo and I were proud to assist in this endeavor.
- Once again, thanks to Jill and our 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th grade students and teachers for making our Martin Luther King, Jr. assembly a terrific event! We had over 120 guests attend and they all thoroughly enjoyed it!
- We have received many wonderful compliments from Grandparents as they have been coming in for grade level grandparents events. The special attention given by staff and students was highly appreciated and we look forward to more acknowledgments this week!
- Three of our 6th grade classes got to go to college last week! Thanks to a special grant, all 6th graders in PSD will get to spend a day at the University of Puget Sound. Kudos to Claudia and Erynn for organizing the event and Kyle, Nikki, and Sarah N. for their work getting wonderful chaperones to help make this excursion a very fun time! The other two classes will head up in March and it is will certainly be a highlight for those kids as well! Be sure to view a short video of their enthusiasm on our CARSON ELEMENTARY facebook page!

Olweus Topic of the Week: Support groups. Talk to students about their support system. Who is always there to listen if they have problems or concerns? Who are some support people available at Carson? Home? Other places? Why do we need a support system in place?
Time to Review Behavior: Now that we are back from winter break, it appears that we are experiencing that traditional increase in what can be termed lower level inappropriate behavior. It's not bad enough to do progressive discipline, but it is enough to generate constant redirection/reminders to a significant number of students and etiquette/behavior expectations for the common areas. If you would like Miles or Arturo to review with your classroom, please schedule with Karen for this week, Jan. 18-22, otherwise we'll assume that it is being covered by the teacher.
Minutes: Don't forget to review the PACK minutes from last week's meeting. They are on the left column under Additional Carson Blogs (you can never have too many!)
