Olweus Topic: Let's talk about the difference between following rules and doing the right thing. What are some things at school that we can do that are the right thing that shouldn't require a teacher watching us? How can making good decisions with small things help us with getting more responsibility that we want to have at school and at home? (consider incorporating good choices to and from school)
Staff Picture: We are taking our staff picture at 8:00 am. We are hoping to get everyone in the picture this year. We have crossing guards, playground supervisors, office staff, etc. who have to be available when students/parents begin to arrive at school. We are really trying to have everyone arrive 10 minutes 'before' 8:00 am. It might not seem like a big deal at the time, but it makes a different when we start looking at the picture later and who was able to make it. We'll see you there!
Class Pictures setup: We will be taking class pictures in two locations. Right now it looks like the stage and the stops to the stage on the commons side. Please help to keep the commons a quiet area-our hope is to make the picture experiene a positive one for our students and photographer. We will have a modified seating arrangement that overflows into the gym.
Carson Behavior Slips: The new forms have arrived. 10 forms will be put in classroom teachers' boxes. The rest of the forms will be stored in the workroom in next to the Carson Kudos on the shelf behind the door. If you are referring a student to the office, please be sure to send them with a completed form.
Time For Kids PTA Fundraiser: This is just a quick reminder for our TIME for Kids Blitz starting Monday.
1) Please lead by example and fill one out. There is a much higher chance that a kid will fill his/her book out if you do first!
2) Please wear the light up jelly ring (you have to press the button inside of it, on the bottom, to turn it on and off) as well as demonstrating your slappy-sticky hand each day from Monday through Friday.
3) Remind your students daily to turn in their book so they can earn their own ring and slappy-sticky hand!!
4) Set a goal of AT LEAST 50% for your class. If each one of you do that every student in your school will have their own copy of TIME for Kids next year at NO COST!!!
5) Remember that for every 7 COMPLETED Books (completed books are 7 or more postcards completely filled out to different addresses) you earn a $5 Starbucks card! If you, and every student in your class, turn in a completed book you automatically receive a $25 Starbucks card (not on top of the $5 increments though:)
6) Have fun with this and let's have at least 50% participation.
Student Safety: Please help us to remind students of the importance of stranger danger, walking with friends, and using designated walking routes (and especially not cutting through the trails if students live at the bottom of the hill). Central office was communicating with law enforcement on Thursday afternoon and at the end of the school day on Friday, law enforcement contacted us and confirmed three lurings in our school attendance area.
