(Pizza w/the Principals winners for September)
CELEBRATIONS:
- Thanks for submitting your Open Court scores using an Excel template! We are off to a great start collecting and integrating real-time data to better determine what's best for each of our students. I am working on some training options for us to use Excel in a simple context for quickly recording and analyzing student performance as we become more and more proactive in our support for student achievement. Hopefully the ride will be fun and exciting and not too scary! Well, maybe a little just to keep it interesting.!
- Thank you staff for being so welcoming and acccomodating to our ELL program as they have worked to implement a push-in service model for your students. Your kindness and flexibility have helped us have the best launch for ELL services yet. Way to go Jen for helping implement a model that is both supportive of our students' ELL service needs as well as interactive with classroom content and vocabulary!
- SLP Mania 2009. You all were having way too much fun getting those SLPs in process on Thursday. Nice work supporting one another!!! Once you get some conferences scheduled and are open to having a visitor, I would love an invitation to drop in and participate in one or two. Let me know if you have a specific conference you would like me to join in with you.
- This Wednesday is Oktoberfest Luncheon 2009! Time to dig out your Lederhosen and Dierndill's and maybe even that old accordian you have sitting around somewhere! What, you don't know where they are? Well, then, just work up an appetite for some freshly grilled German Brats, sauerkraut, hot mustard, and some ice cold (root) beer and head into the staff room this Wednesday between noon and 1:00. Erling and I are proud to be the Burgermeister's of Ceremonies as we chow down on some great comfort food together! PS. Don't forget to sign up for any other goodies you might want to bring in the staff room! Prost!

- Cafeteria Clean-Up Idea submitted by Danielle--I have an idea for those of you who eat in the cafeteria who are having to clean tables with dirty rags/water. At my daughter's school we were asked to send in a large container of hand sanitizer and a large container of Clorox Clean Up wipes. The teachers keep one container of sanitizer and one canister of Clorox Clean Up wipes in the lunch buckets that are brought down to their cafeteria. The kids wash their hands with the sanitizer before they eat. When they are done eating they use one or two of the Clorox Clean Up wipes to wash the tables. Then they are clean and ready for the next round of kids to use! Just an idea! I have asked the families in my class to send in sanitizer and Clorox Clean Up wipes for my classroom, and most of them did, because we eat in our room. We use the wipes to wash our tables after we eat, and it works nicely--it's quick, easy, and the kids can do it!
- Interested in your National Board Certification? See me right away for information about upcoming meetings outlining the program and requirements! Uncle PSD wants you...to have a chance to be National Board Certified!
- Did you know that Puyallup now has its own Online Academy? It is open for 6-12 graders and interested Carson families should talk to Erynn, Claudia, or me for more information! It's called POLA. (Puyallup On-Line Academy) Don't you just love acronyms!?!
- Finally (yes, your eyes must be getting tired by now), I encourage you to check out the Committed Sardine BLOG hosted by Ian Jukes. If you want a glimpse into the future we are preparing our kids for now, this is the place to see what's up and coming! Sorry, this focuses on techy stuff so no fashion advice to be found here...or maybe???? http://www.committedsardine.com/blog.cfm

You could also ask the PTA to check in to providing hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes too...
